With the fourth-annual Montie Awards in the books, it’s already time for another year of wonderful performances.
There were about 340 people in attendance at the 2015 Montie Awards ceremony held for the first time at The Crighton Theatre. To see a list of winners and other nominees, click here.
Those who haven’t already had a chance to see this season’s lineup at both theaters ought to take a look. The Monties crew encourages everyone to attend as many shows as they can not just to see who you might be competing with, but more importantly to support our fellow actors, crew members and directors in their pursuit of excellence.
For The Players Theatre Company, housed at The Owen Theater, there are seven shows eligible for next year’s Montie Awards, sponsored by Spirit of Texas Bank. First up is “Bye, Bye Birdie,” directed by Mary Yost. Following that is “Moon Over Buffalo,” directed by O. A. Melvin; “Meet Me in St. Louis,” directed by Carole Lamont; “Murder at the Howard Johnson’s,” directed by Jim Walker; “Romeo and Juliet,” directed by Brandi Baldwin; “Chicago,” directed by Jeff Baldwin, and “Mousetrap,” directed by Terry Lynn Hale.
Stage Right Productions, housed at The Crighton Theatre, will have five shows. First is “On Golden Pond,” directed by Jim Walker; “Christmas Belles,” directed by Susan Burge; “The Producers,” directed by Manny Cafeo; “Rumors,” directed by Travis Bryant; and “Legally Blonde the Musical,” directed by Tina Cafeo.
The 2015-2016 Montie Awards ceremony has already been booked for Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at The Crighton Theatre. Mark your calendars now!
