‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ third show in Players season

It’s time for the third show in The Players Theatre Company’s lineup this season.

“Meet Me in St. Louis” directed by Carole Lamont runs until Dec. 20.

This description of the show is from The Owen Theatre website:

“‘Meet Me in St. Louis’ is based on the heartwarming movie of the same name.  The Smith family is preparing for the 1904 World’s Fair, their love and respect for each other tempered with the humor that can only be generated by such a special family.”

Lamont has directed numerous shows in the past for the company including the 2014 Show of the Year “Greater Tuna.” She also previously won the 2013 award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her role in The Players Theatre Company’s “The King and I” for which she also got the Best Overall Performance award. She’s also been nominated for best choreography twice and once for set design.

The show features several previous Montie Award recipients.

Creg Kelly (Warren Sheffield) is a two-time nominee and one-time winner. Most recently, he was nominated for his role in the 2014 The Players Theatre Company Production of “South Pacific” and won for his performance in PTC’s production of “Gypsy” for Best Actor in a Minor Role in a Musical.

Kerri Edwards (Anna Smith and props) won in 2014 for Best Props for The Players Theatre Company’s “Gypsy.” She had also been nominated several times for her acting roles.

Joey Lamont (set design) most recently won Best Lead Actor in a Comedy or Drama for his role last year in The Players Theatre Company’s “A Streetcar Named Desire.” He’s also been nominated several times before for acting in the Best Lead Actor category.
